Che cosa? What’s that supposed to mean? /Huffs a bit./ I heard you got yourself injured.

[Pauses before glancing up towards his forehead.] Word travels fast, huh? Yeah, I had an accident. But it’s no big deal! But I meant that not a lot of Southern Italies have been nice to me. And you are one of the last nice ones. [Chuckles.]

/Snorts and nods, crossing his arms and doing a quick glance-over for any obvious injuries./ Are you implying you want me to be an asshole to you, Toni?

No, I’d prefer you be nice. Please and thank you.

Then be a good Spaniard and let me tend to your wounds.

What did you do to get hurt, anyway?

/Just snorts a bit and leans over to press his lips against Antonio’s temple for a few silent moments. Then he sighs softly and murmurs quietly, as though there were others listening and the words were meant for only Toni’s ears./

Mi dispiace. You’ve been through so much that you shouldn’t have even had to go through. I’m … proud of you, you know. For the way you’ve been strong through it all, and for your children and yourself. You could’ve easily done something stupid or you could’ve been bent out of shape about it. But you’re not. So … yeah. I’m proud. It’s pretty admirable.

/Leans back and turns his gaze down to Santiago, obviously feeling either awkward or embarrassed. Or both./

[Antonio was caught off by Lovino’s touch, he tensed at first but soon relaxed. Hearing the words that then next came from Lovino threw him off even more, he swallowed thickly and looked down when Lovino pulled back.]

Uhm, gracias…Lovino. I wasn’t expecting that. It..means a lot. I mean, I haven’t shown it..or you are just ignoring the fact…I look kinda mess. I haven’t gotten much sleep to be honest. But…you’re right, I could be worse. Thank you.

[He looked back up at Lovino and offered him a small, warm smile.]

I was ignoring it. Honestly, I was hoping you’d come to that realization and go take a damn nap or something while someone else could look after the kids.

/Shrugs a little, allowing a small smile in return./

It’s no problem. As in don’t mention it. Really.

/He takes Santiago carefully, cradling him once the baby was settled into his arms. A soft humming noise could be heard escaping his throat if one listened close, but it was quiet; he was making sure he could also hear Toni./

Well, of course you’re not thrilled about it. You loved him, obviously, if you were going to marry him. It just … it sucks that all of that had to happen in your absence. That “absence makes the heart grow fonder” bullshit isn’t true, I guess.

But you did the right thing. If the guy wasn’t happy, it wasn’t your place to force him into staying.

/Glances over to Antonio, then sighs and motions for him to come closer./

That’s what I thought too, huh? Least he told me about the other guy, I just wish he’d left me before he cheated on me.

[Antonio blinks for a moment then slowly scooting closer towards Lovino, giving a slight tilt of his head.]

What is it?

/Just snorts a bit and leans over to press his lips against Antonio’s temple for a few silent moments. Then he sighs softly and murmurs quietly, as though there were others listening and the words were meant for only Toni’s ears./

… He’s not going to spit up or anything like that, is he?

/But even as he asks, he faces Toni a bit more and holds out his arms expectantly because babies are fucking cute, okay. Okay./

You kept saying “ex” so I just assume shit went down? It’s fine if you don’t want to talk about it, Toni. You don’t have to.

… I guess I just wanted to try and be here for you. For once.

[He shook his head ‘no’ and offered yet another slight smile before leaning forward, slowly handing Santiago over to Lovino. Not having even put him down since he got him.]

Ah, that. Si, that is true. Well, A lot of things did go down. Grey faces were on us left and right, just constant harassment. So finally, I had.. proposed. But it seems right after that, things began to go down hill. We began to argue, a lot. Any couple would but I maybe more than it should have? But even though it seemed that sometimes it would get better, something else happened to cause more trouble and drama.

Then I had gotten injured thanks to pirate me, remember him? It was an accident but caused me to be out of work for a while and I had already been avoiding it so it caused me to be gone and away for some time. During that time, my ex had gotten comfy with someone else. He cheated, the same night I came home he left me.

[He rubbed his temple before sighing once more.]

Not really, thrilled about it. Probably things I could have done better, but he literally said he wasn’t happy with me. If someone isn’t happy with me, why bond them down and force them to stay? Right?

/He takes Santiago carefully, cradling him once the baby was settled into his arms. A soft humming noise could be heard escaping his throat if one listened close, but it was quiet; he was making sure he could also hear Toni./

Ohh. I get it.

/Continues to play with the child a bit, making soft cooing noises in his throat before resting his hands in his lap and straightening back up./

He’s a cute kid. I’m sure they’re all cute kids. I can’t really picture you with ugly kids, at least.

/Shrugs his shoulders a bit before steadying his gaze, focusing on Toni. No more averting it, nope./

What happened?

[He arched an eyebrow at the cooing before giving a soft smile.]

If you feel comfortable with it, you can hold him. He seems to be getting a little sleepy so surely he will be easy to handle.

[Pausing, he gave a slight tilt of his head.]

What happened? What do you mean?

… He’s not going to spit up or anything like that, is he?

I can say the same. I just finally been able to get away from work. Which is why I have them now—oh, Lovino. He is such a tiny baby. He isn’t able too just yet.

Possibly one of the older ones. Caramia and Mateo. Aha—si, there is three of them.

/Chuckles and pokes the baby’s nose again, a gentle smile working its way onto his lips subconsciously./

Si? I’m telling you, our bosses are fucking slave drivers. I guess it could be worse, though. At least you can see your kids.

/Looks up at him again, this time with a bit more exasperation./ Got busy, didn’t you? How old are they?

Got that right, the more you put it off. The more it just continued to pile up. It got out of hand, but I finally caught up so I have a few days off.

[ohmygod, just going to try and avoid being flustered. ok]

Que-what-no. Those two, an grey face left one with my ex and one with me. Then another made the our’s. We would have lost them in ten days but then another one made it so they could stay.

And then, another grey face made my ex a woman and pregnant. So. Here is Santiago.

Caramia and Mateo are…six-seven months? Santiago is only about one or two. Born February 14th, I am not sure about the twins because they were already a few months when we got them.

[Siiiiigh, that was a lot to say—]

Ohh. I get it.

Ah—! No, he is a very good baby. He just has a small cold. I gave him his medication but it doesn’t seem to be kicking in just yet.

[Sighs before before looking back up at Lovino.]

It been…a quite long while. How are you?

Oh? Maybe it’ll help him out soon. It takes a bit to kick in, I guess.

/Shrugs a bit, resting his chin on the palm of his hand again./

I’ve been fine, I guess. Busy with shit and then not busy with shit.

… Santiago doesn’t, uh, pick up on speech yet, does he?

Hola, Santiago. You’re not being a total prick for your papí, are you? That used to be my job.
